Reporting to the Production Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for performing preventative and breakdown maintenance at our brewery in Frankton, Hamilton. Nobody enjoys equipment breakdowns that cause delays… especially when our product is cold BEER….and our customers are thirsty!

This is an interesting, hands-on role, in an exciting industry where you will get to work on a wide range of machinery used in the brewing and packaging of beer and cider. You will be responsible for, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, replacing defective parts, and cleaning and maintaining our machinery to best practice standards.

We are looking for someone who has earned their stripes in the food or beverage industry and has an excellent practical understanding of hygiene and food safety requirements that come with it. (We will also consider experience within an automated production environment.) The ideal candidate must have the ability to work well under pressure, and an attitude for getting stuck in no matter what.

Role responsibilities will include:

Liaising with all areas of the operational team at the brewery.

Ensuring that equipment is maintained and when necessary, repaired correctly and in a timely manner

Drafting and maintaining preventative maintenance documents

Reviewing and monitoring plant performance

Focusing on equipment reliability and to input to overall equipment effectiveness

Helping to plan and execute planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, spare part supply and contractor services

Working with the production team to ensure that every production run is completed in full and on time

Troubleshooting problems that occur during the manufacturing process

Leading process and capital improvements and expansion

Providing hands on expert support for the packaging team where required

To ace it in this role, you will have the following skills / knowledge and experience:

Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or trade certificate of fitter/turner

2-3 years proven experience in engineering maintenance, preferably in FMCG Food Industry

Proven Mechanical fault-finding skills

Knowledge of maintenance management and reliability engineering principles and techniques

Proficient in asset management methodologies and processes

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform decisions and mitigate risks

High level of collaboration and influencing skills

Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication

CMMS experience is highly desirable

Food industry experience is highly desirable

Welding and machining skills are highly desirable though not necessary

Health and safety conscious

Able to work as a team and have a can-do attitude

Must have NZ residency or NZ work Visa
