General Manager - The Laboratory Brewpub

Closes: May 21, 2019

The Laboratory Brewpub in Lincoln is looking for a General Manager who will report directly to the owners and have full control and accountability for the entire business. This will encompass the Restaurant, Bar, Brewery, Building Assets and the new 15 seat Cinema, being build onsite. This is a "HANDS ON" position, where you will be working in the venue, being the face of the business and the heart and soul of the 26 strong team.

The Laboratory is a 150 seat bar and restaurant serving 22 craft beers and ciders 8 of which are on handpump. The brewery has a brew length of up to 1000 litres, and is used mainly to brew small batch experimental beers alongside a range of popular favourites. Cask conditioned real ale is a speciality and experience of either brewing, serving or even drinking real ales would be a distinct advantage! The General Manager will be responsible for, but not actively involved with the brewing operations, initially alongside the owners before they take a step back. The Head Brewer will report to the General Manager, as will the Head Chef and the Bar Manager.

The Laboratory is a family owned business that prides itself on using small independent suppliers for its food and beverage supplies. Located in the heart of Lincoln, it appeals to locals, tourists and beer connoisseurs from far and wide, offering state of the art craft beer, wood fired pizza & tapas, in a relaxed yet professional environment, with NO TV screens!

The ideal candidate will have managed a similar sized brewpub or craft beer focussed bar and restaurant, with extensive front of house management experience at a senior level. In return, we offer an excellent salary + benefits, a generous profit related bonus and the chance to work with visionary owners in a beautiful part of Canterbury. You must hold a current LCQ and General Manager licence.

Lincoln is 20 minutes from Christchurch with a university, a supermarket, a primary and high school, several research institutes and a growing population of around 7,000.
