Beer Tourism

Come Thirsty for Adventure

In 2018, The Brewers Guild created the NZ Ale Trail  to highlight great kiwi beer experiences.

There are over 200 breweries in New Zealand producing and serving high quality beer in some of the most unique settings in New Zealand.

The NZ Ale Trail aims to make it easy for you to find out where you can enjoy these great Kiwi beer experiences.  By going where the beer is made, you’ll experience what makes each brewery unique and directly support the people and communities behind New Zealand’s great beer, hops and malt.

By remaining a product of the Brewers Guild, the NZ Ale Trail will always be focused on showcasing industry rather than profit.

One of the reasons that the Brewers Guild created the NZ Ale Trail is that it was so difficult to find beer experiences in New Zealand - and we knew there was a strong appetite for them.  On all our regional tourism organisation websites and newzealand.com domestic and international tourists have to click on 'Food & Wine' to find beer experiences.

In 2020, industry have established a working group on Beer Tourism with a focus on advocating to regional tourism authorities and Tourism New Zealand to support beer tourism as part of their domestic campaigns.

You can find details information on the opportunity New Zealand Beer Tourism presents in the document below.
