[EDUCATION] - Brewers Guild of New Zealand

January 31st, 2008
Dear Brewer
One of the issues the members of the Brewers Guild of New Zealand have raised is getting more eduction and training for brewers in New Zealand. Well here is your opportunity to fill this need.
The Brewers Guild of New Zealand has helped co-ordinate a special “Craft Brewing Forum” as part of the IBD Convention in Auckland in April.But for future events to be organized by the Brewers Guild we really need the support for this event through attendance. It has taken time and resources by the Guild executive as well as the organizing committee of the IBD to put together a program tailored to suit the needs of the craft brewers. For the Brewers Guild to have on going support for events like this we need to support the IBD.

So for just $150 and a Sunday in April you get the following:

Craft Brewers Forum fee includes:

* Attendance at the forum 1300-1630 on Sunday 6 April Convention Proceedings
* Forum papers
* Afternoon Tea
* Welcome Reception

But wait there is MORE:

“A complimentary session”

A Sensory Evaluation Panel – Hugh Dunn
Venue: SKYCITY Convention Centre
Time: 0900 - 1200

[run by Hugh Dunn a brewer of great experience ex Lion Nathan and more recently in the Craft Sector in Western Australia.]

The Craft Brewing Forum – Chaired by Charlie Bamforth -
http://foodscience.ucdavis.edu/bamforth/whoAmI.html

IS BEER THE NEW WINE?

January 25th, 2008

(of course it is…)

 The Brewers Guild of New Zealand is proud to announce their partnership with premium event company – Clockwork (Winners of the 2007 Corporate Events Guide People’s Choice Award for Best Conference & Event Organisers).

With the emphasis on showcasing the best in beer, the Brewers Guild of New Zealand is confident that, with Clockwork on board, this years’ much anticipated BrewNZ Beer Festival and Awards Evening will be bigger and better than ever before!  This years event will be looking to attract female and males alike; through  well known chefs educating guests on food and beer matches, opportunities to speak with the brewers themselves, learning about the health benefits and of course enjoying good company with fellow connoisseurs and about to be connoisseurs.  Because, of course, Beer is the new Wine…

The dates for this year’s events are September 2008 and will be held in Wellington.  Details on sponsorship packages, programme and ticket sales will be available soon.  However, if you are interested in sponsoring these events, please phone Lisa Garrity at Clockwork on 0800 CLOCKWORK. BrewNZ 2007

March 8th, 2007

Yes, BrewNZ is going ahead in 2007

Just to let you know that planning is well under way for BrewNZ for 13-15th September 2007.

There are a number of changes with the Brewers Guild of New Zealand ( http://www.brewersguild.org.nz ) taking ownership of the BrewNZ event. There will be no direct involvement by the Beer Wines & Spirits Council or Lion or DB.

We have an executive committee of Richard Emerson (The Emerson Brewing Company), Luke Nicholas (Epic Brewing Company), Martin Bennett (The Twisted Hop), Craig Cooper (Limburg Beer Company), David Cryer (Cryer Malt), Geoff Griggs (Beer Writer) and Colin Paige (Mac’s Brewery). Each committee member has been allocated an area of responsibility to help make the BrewNZ event happen.

There will be an Awards Competition and Awards Dinner, similar to what we have had in previous years (we have our head judge David Logsdon confirmed for judging again), also there will be the Beer Show which will be an opportunity for the brewers to showcase their beers to the public and the trade.

The Brewers Guild of New Zealand is a non-profit organization formed to represent the interests of the New Zealand brewing industry. We now have the support of over half of the New Zealand brewing industry via expression of interest and paid membership.

Please be patient as we have our next Executive Committee meeting in Wellington on the 11th April. From this meeting we will be announcing more details relating to BrewNZ 2007 such as venue, delivery addresses and timing for the beer awards entries, and the Beer Show.

BrewNZ is now an event for the brewers, run by the brewers, for the benefit of the brewers and the brewing industry. The ultimate winner though will be the consumer.

Cheers
